The new building will be located on the San Jose City College campus and will qualify for LEED Silver certification. Some of the green elements designed into this environmentally sensitive project include a minimized building footprint, maximum use of open space, abundant daylight, a high-efficiency HVAC system and building envelope, and a cool roof. |
![]() Orchard School DistrictContinuing its long-standing relationship, the Orchard School District asked Blach to manage the installation of a 240 kw photovoltaic (PV) system and other campus-wide energy management and efficiency upgrades. The “grid-tied” PV system is expected to reduce the District’s annual electrical costs by an estimated 40%, enabling the savings to be reallocated to educational spending and other expenses. Completed in September, 2009, the PV installation is the first part of Orchard’s energy efficient master plan, which includes a campus-wide energy upgrade and a green library expansion, both scheduled to start construction in 2010. |
